Les Murray – Chairman

Les works with big organisations to bring about large-scale change through restructuring projects that cut complexity, reduce costs and make businesses more efficient. He has achieved success for major companies throughout the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Far East, and North America.

Schooled in high-street marketing and a first-class communicator, he has honed his broad skills on diverse projects – in aerospace, manufacturing, and service industries. Les read Politics at Edinburgh University and Marketing Strategy at Stanford University, California.

An experienced executive, Les applies his energy and skills to manage large-scale change and integrate structure with processes and systems. Les knows how to restructure and get results in challenging and pressurised environments.

Mac Miller – Deputy Chairman

Mac is a Programme Test Manager and has over 35 years IT experience in various roles and is a founder member of the TMMi Foundation. He holds ISEB Foundation and Practitioner Certificates in Software Testing and is also a trained CMMi assessor. Mac also has certification in ITIL Service Management and is a Prince2 Practitioner. He has also taken part in a number of CMM and TMM based assessments with a number of organizations.

Geoff Thompson – Company Secretary

Geoff is one of the founder members of the TMMi Foundation; he is focused on improving the way we test and sees TMMi as a direct influence in this goal. As a the UK Managing Director of Planit Ltd he encourages all of his clients to improve the way they work. He is a founder member of the International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB) and is currently the Chairman of The UK Testing Board. He co-authored the bestselling Software Testing book on Amazon.co.uk – BCS book Software Testing – An ISTQB foundation. He is also is Vice Chairperson for the BCSSIGIST. In 2008 Geoff was awarded the European Testing Excellence Award, and in 2015 he was also awarded the Software Testing Lifetime Achievement Award.

Fran O’Hara – Chief Finance Officer

Fran is (co)founder and director of Insight Test Services, providing test consulting, training and managed test services; Insight Consulting, providing process improvement services; and RPI Alliance, advancing process improvement know-how. He specializes in pragmatic approaches to process improvement with a particular emphasis on people issues. Fran is a regular speaker at conferences, including ICSTest, SofTest, BCS SIGiST, EuroSTAR, European SEPG and the U.S. SEPG. He is an ISEB/ISTQB tutor, a trained SEI CMM lead assessor and TickIT auditor, a fellow of the Irish Computer Society and co-founder of the Irish SIG in Software Testing.

Klaus Olsen – Advisor – Chief Executive Officer of the TMMi Management Executives

Klaus is one of the founder members of the TMMi Foundation; Klaus presented his first experience with the TMM model at EuroSTAR in Munich 1998. Since then Klaus has used the model in work with clients in Denmark and Norway through his company Softwaretest.dk. Klaus has been a tester for over 16 years, and has presented at conferences in San Francisco, Yokohama, Sydney, Seoul, New Delhi, Munich, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Copenhagen. Klaus is the Danish representative on the International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB). Klaus is currently also chair of ISTQBs Foundation Syllabus working group and a co-author of the current Foundation and Advances level syllabus released by ISTQB. Klaus is also author of a Danish book on software testing.

Lev Lesokhin – Advisor

Lev Lesokhin is responsible for CAST’s market development, strategy, thought leadership and product marketing worldwide. He has a passion for making customers successful, building the ecosystem, and advancing the state of the art in business technology. Lev comes to CAST from SAP, where he was Director, Global SME Marketing. Prior to SAP, Lev was at the Corporate Executive Board as one of the leaders of the Applications Executive Council, where he worked with the heads of applications organizations at Fortune 1000 companies to identify best management practices.

Lev also served three years as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, dealing with issues of business strategy, IT management, metrics and outsourcing. He began his career at the MITRE Corporation before moving to the private sector, where he spent several years as a developer and project manager, and has managed large client relationships for a systems integrator. Lev holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Bill Curtis – Advisor

Dr. Bill Curtis is an industry luminary who is responsible for influencing CAST’s scientific and strategic direction, as well as helping CAST educate the IT market to the importance of managing and measuring the quality of its software. He is best known for leading development of the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) which has become the global standard for evaluating the capability of software development organizations. Bill has a passion for software analysis and measurement because, after improving development process, it is the next wave of software engineering improvement.
Prior to joining CAST, Bill was a Co-Founder of TeraQuest, the global leader in CMM-based services, which was acquired by Borland. Prior to TeraQuest, he directed the Software Process Program at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to the SEI he directed research on intelligent user interface technology and the software design process at MCC, the fifth generation computer research consortium in Austin, Texas. Before MCC he developed a software productivity and quality measurement system for ITT, managed research on software practices and metrics at GE Space Division, and taught statistics at the University of Washington. Bill holds a Ph.D. from Texas Christian University, an M.A. from the University of Texas, and a B.A. from Eckerd College. He was recently elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for his contributions to software process improvement and measurement.

Steve Connell – Advisor

Steve formed and continues to lead the Home Office Technology, Test Design and Consultancy Services (TDCS) function, that now shares professional, public sector-side QA and Test services across a number of government departments in the UK. Civil servants lead the team of circa 350 QAT specialists with productive partnerships formed with the private sector, helping to bring further scale, value and innovation. Steve is a strong believer in developing and investing in people and capabilities in order to deliver strong business performance. The service was the first in the UK to attain TMMi Level 5 accreditation in 2012 and the team have since built on this to create innovative automation, performance and integration methods and frameworks across large scale agile delivery environments and are currently developing a broader QA function.
