Assessment Types

There are 2 types of assessments formally defined by the TMMi Foundation:

Formal Assessment
A formal Assessment should be considered if you require a detailed assessment and/or you are considering embarking on a path to certification. This type of assessment will provide you with a gap analysis together with the improvements required to achieve your desired level of maturity.

Accredited Lead Assessor At least 2 Staff interviews and documents required. Other type of corroborative evidence can also be used – e.g., questionnaires, customer surveys, etc. Verifiable benchmark rating of the organization (as defined in the scope of the assessment) against TMMi is produced, with areas of strength and weakness identified in great detail, and full gap analysis presented

Informal Assessment
An informal assessment should be considered if you are after an indicative rather than formal detailed maturity rating.

At least 1 One type of non-corroborative evidence – e.g., staff interviews, documents, questionnaires, customer surveys, etc. – is required No formal rating against TMMi is produced. Utilized mainly to gain an understanding of an organizational area’s maturity level (including recommendations) – thus useful for internal assessments
