There are 2 types of assessment:
A formal Assessment should be considered if you require a detailed assessment using an accredited TAM and/or you are considering embarking on a path to certification. This type of assessment will provide you with a gap analysis (if there are any) together with the improvements required to achieve your desired level of maturity.

||Staff interviews and documents required. Other type of corroborative evidence can also be used – e.g. questionnaires, customer surveys, etcetera
||Verifiable benchmark rating of the organization (as defined in the scope of the Assessment) against TMMi is produced, with areas of strength and weakness identified in fine detail, and full Gap Analysis presented
An informal assessment should be considered if you are after an indicative rather than formal detailed maturity rating.
